Our Pastor
Chris Manessis was raised in a Greek Orthodox background, being named after his grandfather, a Greek Orthodox priest. Yet, for many years he realized that there was more to a relationship with God than ritual and tradition. But though he had studied the Scriptures, memorized passages from the Bible and attended church services, he found no peace in life.
Then, on May 3rd, 1992, at 6pm on a Sunday evening, he believed on Jesus Christ and received Him as his Saviour by speaking one word – Yes. No fancy prayer, just a simple Yes, from the heart. The following week he had the privilege to lead his wife to Jesus Christ, and at 6pm on the very next Sunday evening, she too repented of her sins and placed her faith in the Saviour.
In 1993, he joined Calvary Baptist Church. He was called by Jesus Christ into the gospel ministry in 1995, trained under the ministry of Michael Meredith and ordained the pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in 2001.

Brief History
- In 1980, Michael Meredith surrendered to the call of God upon his life to preach the gospel. In 1990, after pastoring in Missouri for several years, he was sent out of Berean Baptist Church, Springfield Missouri, to plant churches in Australia.
- Initially planning for Tasmania, his family stopped at Australind to acclimatize to life down-under. Through circumstances, prayer and the leading of the Holy Ghost, they settled in Australind to start the first Independent Baptist Church in the greater Bunbury region.
- Through the early years, people were saved, baptized and discipled. In 2001, Calvary Baptist Church was officially organised, receiving her authority from that Baptist lineage that links back to John the Baptist. Since that day, the church has pressed ahead in faithfully worshipping Almighty God and carrying out the Great Commission.
- The Meredith family are now working in Mandurah with the same aim as Australind - to see a church planted.
