Church Planting
Calvary Baptist has a great love for and respect of the Great Commission. As one of the churces of Jesus Christ, it is our privilege and duty to evangelise near and far.
The LORD Jesus has moved in our hearts to not only support men who travel to distant lands, but also to reach out to towns right near us, ourselves, as a whole church. When we started Coalfields Baptist Church in Collie, the whole church took our Sunday afternoon service to that town. We travelled out there and held our service, inviting the townsfolk to come on in to the service. We reasoned that taking this service to another town gave us two separate locations on the LORD's Day that we were holding services in.
Although the lost are not commanded to attend church services, we pray and trust that they will come in and see Jesus Christ in our midst. When Paul wrote to the Corinthians, he spoke of unbelievers coming into church services and experiencing the presence of God ... falling down on his face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth (1Corinthians 14:25).
In 2022, Coalfields Baptist was commissioned and our work in Collie was finished. But our passion for establishing new churches has not diminished. Currently, we are reaching out to two other towns in our regular week of services. Our plan is to see people saved and a man called of God to step up and become the pastor of that new church. Calvary Baptist holds Sunday afternoon services in Harvey, and Wednesday night services in Bunbury.
Harvey
Harvey is a town of a little under 3000 people, 35km north of Australind. It is reknown for its dairy and citrus industries, with plenty of history as a town on the 'Foothills Route', the original road passing through the town on the road from Bunbury to Perth along the Darling Range.
Several outlying towns - Binningup, Waroona, Yarloop and Brunswick Junction - are close enough for people to comfortable travel into Harvey to attend services.
Sunday afternoon services are held at 3pm, in the Harvey Senior Citizen's Centre.
Bunbury
Bunbury is a port city, the third largest city by population in Western Australia. With a population approaching 80 000, Bunbury is in great need of sound gospel preacing Baptist churches.
The surrounding areas include Dalyellup, Donnybrook, Capel, Dardanup, Boyanup and several other smaller towns.
Wednesday evening services are held at 7pm, in the Bunbury CWA Hall.
